PUBH6767: Evaluation Practices in Public Health and Health Care: Applied, Collaborative Approaches

The purpose of this course is to equip future public health managers and administrators with the knowledge base and skills needed to leverage evaluation approaches, data collection tools, and analysis methods in their efforts to develop and ensure the effectiveness of programs or portfolios of programs. Students will develop an evaluation plan as part of this course. This course will emphasize community engagement in evaluation and include resources on culturally responsive and equitable evaluation practices. Instructors will align this course with the American Evaluation Association (AEA) definition of evaluation (“Evaluation is a systematic process to determine merit, worth, value or significance”) and the AEA competency framework for evaluators: evaluation practice; methods; context; project planning and management; and interpersonal.
